A bill making its way through the Legislature could lead to the permanent protection of about 800 acres of farmland at the Southbury Training School and smaller parcels in several other towns.
Like most of my Southbury, Bridgewater, Roxbury and Washington constituents, I was appalled by a bill that would have forced the Catholic Church in Connecticut to submit to a radical reorganization of the legal, financial and administrative structure of our local parishes and strongly opposed it.
